Text Messages in English for Valentine’s Day

Gerundio vs Participio

Last year we presented a collection of sentences in English to celebrate Saint Valentine’s Day. This year we’d like to see your romantic side sending a text message to the phone of the person you love or like.

In this post you’ll find a big variety of messages, surely you’ll like some! :)

Anyone can catch one's eye, but it takes a special someone, to capture your heart and soul and for me that special someone is YOU. Happy Valentine’s Day!

I don't have all the right words. I only have three: I Love You! Happy Valentine's Day Honey!

My eyes are blind without your eyes to see, like a rose without colour. Always be there in my life sweetheart.

If I could die early I would ask God if I could be your guardian angel, so I could wrap my wings around you and embrace you whenever you feel alone.

Let's share the world
A sea is for you, and waves are for me.
The sky is for you, and stars are for me.
The sun is for you, and light is for me.
Everything is for you, and you are for me.

In School, They Taught Me That
1 hour = 60 Mints
1 Min = 60 Secs
But They Never Told Me That
1 Sec without You = 100 Years.

If you wake up 1 day and were asked to have a wish, what would it be? Mine would be that our love would last until you see an apple in an orange tree.

I finally got my past, present and future tenses correct today. I loved you. I love you. I will love you forever! :)

24hrs make a lovely day,
7 days make a lovely week,
52 weeks make a lovely year & knowing a
Person like u will make my life lovely.
Happy Valentine’s Day

If you’re asking if I Need U the answer is 4Ever
If you’re asking if I'll leave U the answer is Never
If you’re asking what I value the Answer is U
If you’re asking if I love U the answer is I do.

I am opening an emotional bank account for u sweetheart, so deposit your love in it and you will get the interest.

I’ll drop a tear drop into the ocean & the day I find that tear drop is the day I stop loving u!

It takes half of our life to find true love, and half to keep them.
I am lucky to spend less than half in finding U, and the rest of my life to be spent in keeping U in my heart.

Life isn't counted by the number of breaths you take; it's counted by the number of times your breath is taken away. You're breathtaking.

Tonight I ask the stars above, How I'll ever win your love, What do I do, What do I say, To turn your angel eyes my way? So...Happy Valentine's Day!

8 letters, 3 words, 1 meaning... I love you

I asked God 4 a rose & he gave me a garden. I ask God 4 a drop of water & he gave me an ocean. I asked God 4 an angel & he gave me u!

You can't imagine how beautiful my world has become ever since you walked into it. With you by my side... I am the luckiest person on earth. Happy Valentine's Day!

Job Interview - Finding the right answer

When you’re doing a job Interview knowing what to ask is as important as giving the right answers to the questions you’re asked. Find out about the company that is going to interview you and learn about its values and culture.

In this post we're giving you some tips so that everything will turn out fine in your next job interview.

Preparing for a job interview. With the jobless numbers in freefall now’s the time to brush up on interview skills.

Finding the right answer

When all else is equal, the person who wants the job most will get it. There’s no point in turning up for interview without preparation and practice. First impressions do matter: you have to dress in a manner that suits the role you’re being interviewed for. The rule of thumb is: wear a suit. If at all possible buy a new shirt and tie.Wear a dark suit with a white shirt and a matching tie. If you can’t afford to buy, then borrow!

Research the company: it’s important to know as much as you can about the company but also about their competitors. Don’t just rely on Google. Go out and speak to people, ask questions, read any articles available and be able to comment on this information and have your own opinions.

Ask intelligent questions: many people are unprepared for this and ask questions such as: ‘What are the holidays?’ and ‘Do you pay sick pay?’ At the first stages of interview, these are not the appropriate questions to be asking. This information will be given to you at offer stage. The questions you ask serve to show your knowledge and interest. At the end of the interview you should always express this by telling the interviewer that you are eager to take the position.

If possible, do a trial run to the place where the interview will take place and time the journey. If you’re not five minutes early for your interview, you are late.

Tips to Learn English in 2010

Learning English in the New Year is without doubt one of the main goals of many people. However, how can we learn/improve with our daily time restrictions?

For many people it is hard to find time to complete their goals or even fulfil their hobbies. In this post we’re going to see different ways to optimize our time and be able to learn English. A good idea is to immerse ourselves in the language and that means being surrounded by it.

When you get up in the morning try to tune the radio into English or listen to music in English. On the way to work / school keep listening to the radio / music or to the hundreds of podcasts that you can download from the Internet. Save your favourites in your mp3 player or mobile phone so you are able to listen to them whenever you want. If you travel by train, metro, bus or if you get a lift and you have a portable video player you could save some video in mp4 format (it’s usually the most acceptable format). Visit VOA News, TED and the Videos Category to download excellent videos.

Do you like reading? Then try to buy your favourite book in English. You’ll understand quite a lot because you have had previously read it in your native language, but don’t forget to look for the words that you don’t understand in context in one of the many free online dictionaries.

If you also like movies and serials we have to congratulate you; practically every movie can be found in English (mainly because the majority come from Hollywood). And the truth is that it’s nice to watch your favourite serials in English with the authentic voice from the characters (for example Grissom, the character from CSI).

If you wish to make friends and practice English with them, then we recommend you to visit some of the many social networks available on the Internet.

As you can see there are no excuses not to learn English in 2010. Don’t miss it out!

Gerund / Participle – Do you know the difference?

Gerundio vs Participio

Even some teachers of English confuse the present participle with a gerund. Both have the -ing form, but the present participle is verbal, while the gerund is a noun.

Look at these two sentences:

I'm driving the car.
('driving' in this case is a verbal form, therefore it's a participle)

I like driving.
(In this example 'driving' is the noun (gerund) and 'like' is the verb)

Likewise, you can say:

I loved swimming
I was swimming in the sea

Can you see the difference?
